Kash Akantorana is the Founding Partner of the firm. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Makerere University (Hons) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.

She has been in practice for seven years having enrolled in 2017. Kash is an experienced commercial litigation practitioner with a significant focus on Commercial and Civil litigation, Land Transactions, Employment Law and Family Law.

Before starting her own firm, Kash was a Senior Associate at Kampala Associated Advocates in the Firm’s Litigation and Energy Departments and was involved in a number of landmark cases that she handled both independently and with some of the partners at the firm. She was part of the team that represented the Electoral Commission in Presidential Petition No. 1 of 2021, in the Supreme Court of Uganda and also part of the team that represented a Company, in the largest mining dispute in Uganda in relation to the acquisition of a mining lease worth over USD 700 million in the High Court of Uganda.

She has also participated in several large scale debt-recovery cases in the banking sector on behalf of various financial institutions and non-deposit taking institutions. She has also advised a number of companies on incorporation, taxation, compliance and administration.

Successfully defended the institution in several suits where borrowers challenged interest rates, with courts upholding that parties are bound by the terms they freely agreed to in signed loan agreements.
  • Provides legal advisory services to a state-owned commercial enterprise operating across various sectors. Responsibilities include reviewing and negotiating high-value commercial contracts, issuing legal opinions on complex regulatory and operational matters, and leading the drafting of institutional regulations to guide the governance and operations of the enterprise and its subsidiaries.
  • Part of the legal team that represented a national electoral body in a landmark presidential election petition before the Supreme Court of Uganda, which was successful.
  • Contributed to the representation of a mining entity in one of Uganda’s largest extractives disputes, involving contested rights to a mining lease worth over USD 700 million.
  • Participated in the successful defence of multiple election petitions arising from parliamentary and local council elections, focusing on electoral procedure and public law compliance.
  • Played a key role in large-scale debt recovery litigation for leading commercial banks, managing both claim enforcement and defence in high-stakes suits.
  • Advised various companies on incorporation, regulatory compliance, tax implications, and corporate structuring. Issued legal opinions on the enforceability of securities in commercial lending transactions.
  • Successfully defended a client in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court in a family and land dispute over an estate valued at UGX 5 billion. The dispute involved complex issues such as statutory time limitation, estoppel, fraud, and the rights of bonafide occupants.
  • Represented a bidder in successfully challenging their disqualification at the technical evaluation stage of a major public procurement process, with the matter heard before the procurement oversight body.
  • Part of the legal team that successfully challenged the irregular recruitment of a senior official at a government regulatory authority, resulting in the court directing that the official vacate office.
  • Successfully contested the suspension of a senior cooperative official by the Registrar of Cooperatives, with the court holding that the action was unlawful and procedurally improper.
  • Represented numerous clients in employment law disputes involving wrongful or unlawful termination, achieving favorable judgments and negotiated settlements.
  • Provided litigation and corporate advisory services as part of a team supporting a national utility corporation.
  • Part of the team handling both litigation and commercial advisory for a major multinational energy company operating in the petroleum sector.
  • Provided strategic legal advice to businesses seeking to participate in Uganda’s oil and gas sector, particularly on compliance with local content requirements under the applicable laws and regulations.
  • Represented clients in family law matters, including divorce, succession, estate administration, and child custody disputes.
  • Acted in complex arbitration proceedings, including a high-profile dispute involving the termination of a government roadworks contract, dealing with key issues under construction and procurement law.
